M-Files mobile applications are feature rich clients that enable M-Files customers to securely access their business critical information anywhere, anytime. M-Files mobile applications were introduced back in 2013 and since then we’ve added many great, new features that increase customer productivity. All of the supported features as well as comparison per operating system can be found from M-Files Knowledge Base.

While we have been busy developing new features, at the same time our design team managed to fit in all these great new features into the mobile user interface and improving the usability along the road.

Prioritizing information

For our Q2 2017 mobile releases we made a major redesign in many ways, especially on phone form factors. First of all we wanted to make the home screen as information rich as possible. Once the application is launched users sees the documents she recently worked with, her assignment if she has any, her favorite documents and the documents she has available in offline mode. Home screen is now a place for important information, not only a place for shortcuts.

Navigation made easy

Another major change was changing from so called hamburger menu (top left menu) to bottom navigation. This gives user a quick and effortless access to most used views across the application. Similarly Search is now accessible in all views and there’s no need to navigate back to home screen to access it.

Home screen has evolved during past years along with new features. It will be further enhanced in our Q3 2017 release when M-Files 2018 is also launched. M-Files 2018 introduces Intelligent Metadata Layer and our mobile applications will naturally support it. More about that later this year!

M-Files iOS home screen evolution

The new user interface is available in M-Files Android and iOS applications. M-Files mobile applications are available for all M-Files customers and can be downloaded for Android from Google Play, for iOS from the Apple iTunes App Store and for Windows 10 from the Windows Store.
